How does ebay work? Ebay's just like a a giant market full of different people trying to sell you bikes.
What to watch out for on ebay - read the description carefully. Look to see if the item is new or used. Is the seller new? Does the seller run a business and use ebay as a shop store? Quite a lot of people do and you'll find they often sell accessories too which may offer you discounted delivery on two or more items.
Look for the feedback. If someone has sold a lot of items do they have good feedback? If they have no feedback then they may be a new seller - so you're taking more of a risk than with an established seller. Look to see what other items they've sold. Have people been happy with their purchases? If a bike bargain sounds too good to be true and they are brand new to ebay then be extra cautious. Ask someone's opinion whether they think its ok - perhaps ask the seller if you can ring them to discuss some aspect of the bike and see if they're genuine.
You can find some good bargains on ebay but beware of any postage charges or pick up only options than may be on the item. It's not a bargain if it's going to cost you loads to go and get it. Obviously some people don't want the hassle of sending a bike through the postal service so will only offer pick up as an option. Shops will generally have good courier service but the minimum charge we've seen for this sort of service is £10 and you're probably looking at more - but always check this out before you bid.
